Step UP To The Summit Challenge Map

Hi users,

Looks like a lot of teams are taking on the challenge of climbing to the summit with Dr. TA Loeffler. Keep up the great job and we will hopefully see you all at the summit by the end of May!

Myself and Pam thought it would be a great idea to post a PDF File of the "Step Up To The Summit Challenge Route". This is a great idea for community groups and teams to print off a copy and blow it up as a visual for members of your team. This way you can place the larger printed map in a place that everyone can see it (ie: lunch room, community center/town hall, etc) and move a peg (or thumb tack) along the route to show your team members how far up the mountain you are. '

If you have any trouble or issues please feel free to email ashleymercer@recreationnl.com or pammills@recreationnl.com

All the best,

1 Year Anniversary

RNL would like to thank Andrea and the Admirals Coast Walkers for this motivating e-mail:

First of all, allow me to congratulate you and the rest of the team on your success! I can hardly believe it's been one year since myself and Joanne met you at MUN for the launching of your website!!

The residents and staff here at Admirals' Coast have had such a wonderful time with all the challenges you've had so far. Everyday they're checking the map on the wall to see how far we've gone.

We actually have a lady here that turned 100 last month, and would you believe she's the one that gets the most steps on her pedometer? She, along with the other residents, are so proud to come and give me their steps everyday, and I love to see the smiles on their faces.

Again, congratulations.....you should be so proud!

Andrea

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Hello everyone,

Myself and Pam would like to wish all of our Small Steps...Big Results Physical Activity Website users a Merry Christmas and an active and healthy New Year!

We hope that you will continue being active throughout the holidays and enjoy Christmas with your family and friends. We know that it can be extremely difficult during the holiday season to eat well and be active, but make it a family affair and go sliding, snowshoeing or take your dog for a walk in the park. Try to eat those not-so-healthy foods in moderation but if you by chance eat too much, just add a little more physical activity into your day to help balance it out

The Olympic Torch Relay Challenge will be still up and running throughout Christmas until February 28th, 2010. Please note however that our offices will be closed for Christmas from December 21st to January 4th, 2010 therefore if there are any issues we will not be able to get back to you until that date. Sorry for any inconvenience that may cause.

Finally, there is still time for you to sign up and join your team in the Olympic Torch Relay Challenge, if you have not already done so. Remember that any team who participates in the challenge will receive a chance to win a prize at the end!

Again Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!

Ashley & Pam

My Walk in Town

Hi,

I started walking from my home to my work place and it takes me about 20 minutes to walk one way.  I am 59 years old, since I joined Small Steps Big Results back in July 2009, my arthritis is going away, I had really bad arthritis on my knees, they used to click everytime I bended my knees or took a step.  Thanks to Smalls Steps Big Results I can walk better than before without pain on my knees.

Nakummek!
Rita

Thanks for the Inspiration
Hello Admiral's Coast Walkers

Thank you for your note.  I will share it with our team.  However, we are the ones who should be congratulating your team because it is your team who has inspired us.  Your team is amazing.  This was our first staff challenge using Small Steps...Big Results but it won't be our last and I look forward to following your progress as our teams continue in our journey for a more active lifestyle.

Until the next challenge,

Christine
